Average advertised asking rents were up 0.6%, on a trailing three-month basis through May, to $3,259. The rate clocked in 30 basis points ahead of the U.S. figure, according to the <a href=\"\/blog\/national-multifamily-market-report\/\" rel=\"\"><strong>national multifamily market report<\/strong><\/a>. San Jose was among the top-performing markets for year-over-year rent growth, with the rate at 2.6%, while the national average was up 1.0%. Silicon Valley employment improved slightly from last year, but with gains still in the red, at -0.2% through March. In the 12 months ending in March, Silicon Valley saw a net loss of 6,000 positions.
