Still, due to record supply volume, average advertised asking rents took a hit, according to the latest Yardi Matrix Salt Lake City multifamily market report. The average rate was down 0.3% on a trailing three-month basis, also sliding 1.2% year-over-year, to $1,538 in February. Robust supply also impacted occupancy in stabilized properties, but to a lesser degree. The figure was down 40 basis points year-over-year, to 94.1% as of February. Education and health services (14,500 jobs) and government (7,800 jobs) led employment gains, while trade, transportation and utilities was the only sector to shed positions (down 4,300 jobs).
