Advertised asking rents were up 0.6% on a trailing three-month basis through May, to $2,179, 30 basis points ahead of the national rate. The working-class Renter-by-Necessity segment was also up 0.6%, while the upscale segment rose 0.7%. As of March, D.C.\u2019s unemployment rate was 2.8%, well below the national average, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data. A recent report commissioned by The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development looked at the benefit of a new stadium built for the Washington Commanders football team.
